The use of sonophoresis in skin treatment therapy is to provide enhanced permeability of the skin through the use of sound waves. This “permeabilization” of the skin allows a far higher absorption of the active ingredients that are infused into the skin. The result will be both a greater response to the agent due to better penetration and a clearing up of cystic acne and lightening of pigmentation from acne scarring.
