No Need to Cover Those Acne Scars

Acne treatment before and afterFor most of us, acne scars are a permanent and undesirable reminder of our youth: days when red blemishes had us hiding our faces. While most acne dissipates over time, acne scars can remain, leaving us pockmarked and self-conscious. Layers of makeup can help conceal the appearance of these scars; however, makeup cannot erase the scars completely. While there are creams that promise to reduce the appearance of acne and acne scarring, these creams do not treat the root of the problem. Instead, the newest line of defense against these scars is something else entirely: laser treatments, such as the Laser Genesis by CUTERA®.

What Causes Acne and Acne Scarring?

Acne results when bacteria, oil, and dirt clog up the pores of the skin. While many of these blemishes are superficial and disappear without a lasting mark, severe acne tends to result in tissue damage to the dermis, which leaves behind an undesirable scar.

What Can Be Done?

Laser treatments for acne scarring have been gaining popularity over the years, and for a good reason. Lasers can penetrate and treat the skin at a far greater depth than any skin cream. The Laser Genesis is one of these revolutionary lasers. This laser is non-ablative, meaning that it treats acne and acne scarring without damaging the top layer of the skin, and as a bonus, it does so with little pain (patients often describe the procedure as relaxing and comfortable). Additionally, there is no downtime with the Laser Genesis. The Laser Genesis targets acne and scarring by heating the deeper layers of the skin (killing bacteria) while reducing the pore size. This process prevents future acne breakouts and stimulates collagen beneath the surface to target, smooth, and reduce the appearance of scars on the face and neck. Since this treatment also works to even out and improve skin tone, blemishes will become less noticeable, and, therefore, less bothersome. The Laser Genesis can also be used as an anti-aging treatment, as it lessens the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and diffused redness.

Frustration with acne and the lasting scars from acne is a feeling shared by many people, and though you cannot always prevent scars from appearing, you can reduce the appearance of them. With the Laser Genesis by CUTERA®, you can take back the rejuvenated and refreshed look of smooth skin you desire.
