Botox or Fillers What Is Right for Me?

Posted in Injectable Fillers

Botox or fillers? We hear the words “Botox®” and “fillers” all the time, but many people don’t know the difference between the two. Some people even think they are one in the same. One of the most common questions we are asked is, “Which one is right for me?” Finding the right answer can be difficult and overwhelming.

Botox® VS Fillers

How does It work?
Botox® relaxes the muscles in your face by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. Because the signals are blocked, the muscles are unable to contract, which causes wrinkles to soften.
Used to treat firmly set wrinkles. The filler is injected into the skin to soften wrinkles by filling them in to achieve a smoother and more youthful look.

What part of the face or body is it used?
  • Commonly used on the upper part of the face. For example: forehead, crow’s feet, and frown lines.
  • Botox® can also be used in the armpits, palms, and soles of feet for excessive sweating
Most commonly used on the lower part of the face to fill in fine lines and wrinkles. For example: Lips, sides of the mouth (laugh lines), and around the nose.

How long does it last?
The results of the Botox® should last between 4-6 months. The lines will then reappear less severe because the muscles have been able to relax.
The results of fillers last between 6-12 months depending on the type of filler used.

Who should not receive the treatment?
  • If you are breastfeeding or pregnant.
  • If you have a neurological disease.
  • If you are breastfeeding or pregnant.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have allergies to make sure you aren’t allergic to the ingredients.

What do these treatments help to remedy?
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Migraines
  • Excessive sweating
  • Thin lips (fillers will help plump)
  • Soften creases and wrinkles
  • Fill shallow areas

Is there recovery time? If so, how long?
There is no recovery time. It is possible that you may see some bruising or redness in the skin. It will then take 3-5 days to see the results.
There is minimal downtime. Expect slight redness. Possible swelling and bruising may occur, but should go down in a few days. It will take a few days for the shape of filler to settle in.
