Tattoo Removal Q&A

Posted in Tattoo Removal

Tattoo removalDid you know that an estimated quarter of the US population has tattoos? According to Web MD, with that quarter, it is estimated that 50% will eventually want at least one tattoo removed. Getting a tattoo was once something that was permanent that you had to live with forever. Now there is tattoo removal, and the Spa at Spring Ridge has the most technologically advanced and safe laser to date, the PicoSure! Some careers such as the military will make you have your tattoos remove if your tattoos are on particular locations of the body as well.

1. How does the PicoSure work?

The PicoSure attacks the ink with vibration and pressure technology. The ink breaks into tiny particles which are then absorbed by the body. This will result in fewer treatments and faster results.

2. Can this laser remove colored ink?

While black ink is the easiest to remove, all colors can be removed with this laser. The red and green inks are the hardest to remove but are still achievable with the PicoSure.

3. Does tattoo removal hurt?

It isn’t painless; we typically say it hurts about the same amount as getting the tattoo. That being said, it is a very quick treatment. We also have numbing cream for a small extra charge to help numb the pain. You just have to come in a half hour earlier to have it applied.

4. How many treatments will I need?

With the PicoSure laser, we typically see completed results in 3-6 treatments. With the old laser, we saw completed results upwards of 12 treatments.

5. How often can I get the treatments?

You must wait eight weeks between treatments. As explained earlier, the ink is absorbed by your body, which means your body needs time to break down and get rid of the ink. If you choose to wait longer than the eight weeks between treatments, that is fine too.

6. Are there side effects after the treatment?

Blisters, pin point bleeding, swelling, and redness, are all possible temporary side effects that may happen post treatment. Temporary tan reduction or loss of pigment is also a potential side effect.

Fewer treatments, faster recovery time, and greater results are attainable with PicoSure’s pico-second technology. The fees for tattoo removal are based on the size, color, and complexity of the tattoo. Tattoo regret is no longer an issue!
