Woman in bikini sun tanningA beautiful suntan can often be a contradiction. In the short term, the natural glow of a suntan likely receives numerous compliments about how good, healthy, and happy you look. Unfortunately, the long-term effects of suntanning and sunbathing are not nearly as favorable. From age spots to hyperpigmentation to fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage is inevitable for sun-worshipers. As a progressive condition, sun damage is built up from months and years of being in the sun without the correct measures of protection (such as sunscreen, hats, and glasses). While the sun feels good on our skin and is the fastest and easiest way to achieve the needed levels of Vitamin D, the sun accelerates the aging process by breaking down the fibers in the skin. Elastin and collagen are responsible for keeping your skin healthy and youthful looking. Everyone loses elastin and collagen levels with age; however, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays break these fibers down at a much quicker rate, prematurely leaving you with the aging and damaged skin.

Sun damage is one of the most common skin concerns as it leads to various insecurities such as wrinkles, age spots, and sagging skin. The Spa at Spring Ridge offers a variety of treatments to combat the harmful effects of sun damage.

Laser Treatments

Laser treatments can perform wonders on aging and sun-damaged skin. Repeated treatments of these ablative or non-ablative treatments even out skin tone and texture while stimulating the production of collagen and slowing the destruction of elastin. Most laser treatments treat the face, neck, and hands (the most common areas for sun damage) while presenting minimal discomfort and downtime. Whether your sun-damaged skin has caused hyperpigmentation or fine lines and wrinkles, there is a laser treatment that can help. Some of these treatments include:

CryoClear®

CryoClear® uses cryo technology (cold carbon dioxide gas) to treat brown, sun, age, and liver spots. This treatment freezes the targeted spots to ablate the top layer of the epidermis and replace it with new, healthy skin. This procedure is quick, painless, and contributes to the minimal destruction of healthy tissue.

IPL Laser

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is effective for improving hyperpigmentation caused by the excess intake of the sun’s rays. This non-surgical treatment evens out skin tone and texture in as little as three to five comfortable and downtime-free sessions. This laser combines IPL technology with the Icon™ 1540 Fractional Laser to rejuvenate the skin and leave those pesky sun-related insecurities behind.

PicoSure® FOCUS™

The PicoSure® FOCUS™ Lens Array corrects sun-damaged skin, such as wrinkles and poor skin texture, by stimulating collagen and elastin production. This laser pulses light into the skin to reduce the lines and discoloration.

Facials

Sometimes all that is needed to combat the negative effects of the sun is a luxurious facial. Facials not only relax your skin but introduce customizable ingredients, antioxidants, and serums that target specific concerns like sun damage. Our sun-damage tailored facials include the 24 Karat Gold Facial, the Age Reversal Facial, and the ZO® Radical Repair Facial.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is the process of exfoliating your skin by removing impurities. This treatment reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, age spots, and other sun-related skin imperfections.
